As part of a university project we had to create a new and innovative magazine in which we were supposed to talk about truth and lies. My colleague Stefan Mayerhofer and I cooperated and designed a magazine called Lügenorgan (in English: “lie detector”). Many stories can be seen and evaluated from two sides and, depending on the news channel (or the content creater) the reader is exposed to one opinion.
Therefore, our ideas was to edit a magazine which leaves the decision of what to believe open. Each topic is covered by two articles which talk about the topic from different perspectives. In order to support this set-up visually, the magazine has two beginnings and no ends. One can start reading from either side and in the middle of the magazine the two sides – or perspectives – meet.
The brief was to create a magazine that talks about truth – how can truth be upheld in a better way than when just informing without an agenda?
